NEC to Set Up WiMAX R&D Center in Taiwan

NEC recently announced its plan to build a WiMAX R&D center in Taiwan with the support of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs. Established as part of the M-Taiwan project led by the Taiwanese government, this Multimedia E2E (End-to-End) R&D Center is expected to deliver WiMAX base stations and application service platforms for Taiwanese equipment vendors to carry out interoperability tests and assist local enterprises in the development of application services. This center is slated to open in Taipei within 2007.
